Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until just combined, taking care not to overmix the meat.

Roll the mixture into small meatballs, roughly 1 inch in size, and set them aside.

Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil, then brown the meatballs in batches, cooking for about 5 minutes and turning them occasionally until they achieve a golden hue on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and add the red pepper flakes if you're using them. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer for about 2 minutes.

Return the browned meatballs to the sauce, making sure they are evenly distributed.

Generously sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and sauce.

Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

After baking, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves and enjoy!
