2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, including juices

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon sugar (to balance acidity)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Extra fresh basil leaves for garnish

Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until it reaches al dente texture. After draining, make sure to reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water and set the drained pasta aside.

    Sauté the Garlic: In a spacious skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not brown. Be careful to not let it burn.
