Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups peeled and diced Granny Smith apples (about 2-3 medium apples)

½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it lightly or lining it with parchment paper, which will facilitate easy removal once baked.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and packed light brown sugar. Using a whisk, mix the two together until the mixture is smooth and fluffy. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition to ensure they are fully blended. Finally, stir in the pure vanilla extract until combined.

Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon until well mixed.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring slowly until just combined. Take care not to overmix; the batter should retain some thickness and not become too smooth.

Fold in the Apples and Nuts: Gently fold in the diced Granny Smith apples and the chopped pecans or walnuts (if using), ensuring they are evenly distributed through the batter without breaking them down.

Pour Into the Pan: Spread half of the prepared batter into the bottom of your baking pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce evenly over this layer, then carefully spoon the rest of the batter on top, spreading it gently to cover. Finish by drizzling the remaining caramel sauce over the surface of the blondies.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. The blondies are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached. Be mindful to avoid overbaking, as this can lead to dry blondies.

Cool and Serve: Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Once slightly cooled, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve. For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top before serving.
