Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

8 slices of crispy cooked bacon, chopped

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sour cream

4 cups frozen tater tots

½ cup pickles, diced (optional)

½ cup ketchup (for serving)

½ cup mustard (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot and ready for baking.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onions have become soft and translucent. If there's noticeable grease, carefully drain the excess fat from the pan.

Add Bacon and Season: Stir in the chopped crispy bacon along with the Worcestershire sauce. Season the mixture generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to your taste. Once combined, remove the skillet from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.

Combine Cheeses and Sour Cream: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses with the sour cream. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well blended and creamy.

Layer Tater Tots: Take a 9x13 inch baking dish and evenly distribute half of the frozen tater tots on the bottom, creating a solid base layer.

Layer Beef Mixture: Spoon the beef and bacon mixture over the layer of tater tots, spreading it out evenly to ensure every bite has flavor.

Add Cheese Mixture: Carefully dollop the cheesy sour cream mixture over the beef layer. Use a spatula to spread it gently across the surface, making sure it's evenly distributed.

Top with Remaining Tots: Finish with the remaining tater tots, placing them evenly over the cheesy layer to create a crispy top.

Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to retain moisture and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After this, carefully remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the tater tots become golden brown and deliciously crispy.

Serve: Once baked to perfection, take it out of the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving. If desired, sprinkle diced pickles on top for an extra burst of flavor. Serve alongside ketchup and mustard for dipping.

                      Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 6-8

                        - Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, serve the tater bake in the baking dish itself, adding small bowls of ketchup and mustard on the table for guests to help themselves. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for a pop of color!
