To ensure your linguine has the perfect al dente texture, start by selecting high-quality pasta. Fresh pasta can elevate your dish, but if you are using dried linguine, choose a reputable brand. Always follow the package instructions for cooking time, but begin checking for doneness a couple of minutes before the recommended time. The pasta should be tender yet firm to the bite.

Ingredients

8 oz linguine pasta

1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of ½ lemon

Instructions

Cook the Linguine:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until it is al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes). Drain the pasta in a colander, reserving about a cup of the cooking water for later use. Set the linguine aside.

      Sauté the Shrimp:

In a spacious skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant but not browned. Next, add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired). Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Once cooked, transfer the shrimp to a plate and set aside.

          Make the Cream Sauce:

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing gently until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly, which should take about 3-4 minutes. If the sauce becomes too thick, gradually add some of the reserved pasta water until you achieve your desired creamy consistency.

              Combine:

Add the drained linguine and sautéed shrimp back into the skillet with the cream sauce. Toss everything together gently to ensure the pasta and shrimp are well coated in the creamy goodness. Incorporate the lemon zest and lemon juice, stirring until everything is mixed thoroughly. Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice to enhance the flavors.

                  Serve and Garnish:

Serve the creamy garlic Parmesan shrimp linguine on plates, topping each serving with a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color. Enjoy the dish immediately while it's warm and creamy!
