Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 bunch asparagus, ends trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust according to your spice preference)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prep Ingredients: Begin by ensuring your shrimp is peeled and deveined. Trim the woody ends from the asparagus and cut them into 2-inch pieces for even cooking.

Sauté Asparagus: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Once melted, introduce the asparagus to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the asparagus turns a vibrant green and starts to become tender. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Once cooked, remove the asparagus from the skillet and set it aside.

Cook Garlic and Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. After it has melted, stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for approximately 30 seconds, or until the garlic is fragrant but not browned, to avoid bitterness.

Add the Shrimp: Gently place the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer. Allow them to cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Carefully flip the shrimp over to cook the other side. Reintroduce the sautéed asparagus into the skillet.

Infuse Flavor: Squeeze the fresh lemon juice over both the shrimp and asparagus, and sprinkle in the lemon zest. Gently toss everything together to combine and continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and heated through.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle the dish with freshly chopped parsley for color and a fresh taste. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side to enhance the dish with a zesty punch.
